Microsoft has released an new version of Microsoft Office called 2007.  It is available in the Student/teacher, Basic, Small Business Edition, and Professional version.  MicroSphere normally carries all of the versions.

Office 2007 is a new program.  It has new menus, format, file structure and requires some time to learn the new structure.

If you receive a file with the extension of DOCX instead of the DOC it has been saved in the new Office 2007 format.  MicroSoft offers a free download to add the DOCX file option to Word 2000,2002, and 2003.  If you do not install the patch, Word 2003 and older will not open the newer file format.  Of course, if you have the newer Office, all files can be saved in the older format from the program using SAVE AS or setting the preferences in the program to save as a doc file by default.

Some people like the new format and program and others like the older Word 2003 much better.  MicroSphere has the ability to install and configure either version and make it work correctly.
